Why Missions? Because Jesus commanded it!
As we love and learn we find ourselves entering into a new kind of life: whole life found in God. This means that Christ is revealed in both the extravagant and the mundane, for every dimension of our human reality is caught up in God’s great redemptive story for His creation.
The Great Commission – A Personal Instruction
The Great Commission is one of the most significant passages in the Bible. It is the last recorded personal instruction given by Jesus to His disciples and it is a calling from Jesus Christ to all His followers to take specific action. The Great Commission is found in the Gospel of Matthew:
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
We are called to be sharing this new salvation kingdom life with others. To that end we seek to equip and empower each person for life purpose and God’s calling. We want to be active in our communities, being prepared to interact and transform our cultural context through a prayerful, personal presence. We desire to engage the world with God’s love; able to extend and express the missional movement of Christ’s Church by incarnating the Gospel in our community and world.
At Living Faith Chapel, we participate in Foreign Missions through the support of long-term missionaries and through short-term missions trips. We also participate in Home Mission through support of missional work here in the Battlefords, Saskatchewan or in Canada. Some of the missionaries we support work in areas hostile to the preaching of the Gospel. We cannot publicize their activities in order to maintain their safety. Others work in open countries and their ministries are featured in the missions drop-down menu.
